Full Title
Choice experiments for measuring Intra-household dynamics and bargaining power
Session Overview
The objective of this session is to show how discrete choice experiments can be used to measure relative bargaining power. Participants will play an economic game in which they make choices between different food items for themselves and a partner. The descriptive results of the choices will be analysed with the participants to identify relative bargaining power between partners.
Learning Objectives/Outcomes
Participants will:
1. Understand the concept of bargaining power.
2. Learn discrete choice experiment methodology.
3. Use descriptive statistics to analyse choice experiment data.
4. Introduce regression models for intra-household analysis (time permitting).
Target Audience
Graduate students, development practitioners, researchers interested in intra-household dynamics of nutrition.
Format
Plenary, group work
