Introduction to the Principles of Research Ethics in ag-nutrition research

Learning Objectives/Outcomes

Upon completion of the session, participants will have an understanding of:
(1) Which 3 universal principles are applied to the conduct of ethical research?
(2) Why these 3 principles were developed to provide guidance and ensure that the well-being of participants is always considered.
(3) Why informed consent is necessary and how to design a meaningful and ethical informed consent process?
(4) How a study design relates to ethical considerations and what elements to consider when designing a sound study.

Target Audience

Researchers at all levels involved in designing and implementing research involving human subjects in low-income countries, and in particularly among vulnerable communities.
