About ANH2023
Thank you for your interest in ANH2023. The ANH Academy Week is a series of annual events that bring together the community of researchers, practitioners and policymakers working at the intersection of agriculture, food systems, nutrition and health. The objective of the ANH Academy Week is to foster knowledge exchange, innovation, learning and uptake of interdisciplinary research.
ANH2023 will take place through a combination of online, in person and fully hybrid formats in Lilongwe, Malawi. It will feature Learning Labs; a series of training sessions and workshops in interdisciplinary agriculture, nutrition and health research and practice; and a Research Conference; an abstract-driven symposium featuring oral and poster sessions, special plenaries and keynote speeches, as well as side events, community discussions and socials. Explore more about ANH2023 here.

Important information about registration
Registration for online participation is uncapped, however there is a capacity for the in-person events in Malawi. In-person registration will remain open until the capacity of the conference venue is filled. We encourage you to register as soon as you can to guarantee a place. The ANH Academy team will communicate via key channels (website, newsletter and social media) when registration is reaching capacity.
If you register for the Learning Labs - online, in person, or both - you will receive a follow-up email in the future to request your preferred sessions. To get a flavour of what to expect you can explore all Learning Labs from 2016-2022 here.
If you are planning to attend in person
- Please read through the general terms on COVID-19 and travelling to Malawi here.
- ANH Academy will provide invitation letters to support visa applications. Visit this dedicated portal for more information on visa letters, accommodation and the ANH2023 venue.
- There is no charge for online participation, however, for in person participants there is a nominal fee which contributes to the running costs of the event.
Registration fees
ANH Academy is committed to lowering barriers to participation in scientific debates and knowledge exchange. Since 2016 participation in Academy Weeks has been free to most participants, with a nominal fee for those attending from high-income settings. This year, to contribute to the increased running costs of a fully hybrid event in current economic conditions, a new tiered registration fee is being introduced for any in person element of ANH2023. Participation is FREE for Malawian participants based in national universities, local NGOs and Government.
- Payments must be received within 7 days (1 week) of registration. After this time, should payment not be received, participant registration will be assigned to online only.
- In-person registration fees excludes accommodation and travel expenses.
- Participants are asked to self-select the fee structure below, based on the context and circumstances in which they are registering.

Payment process for in-person registration
- Fees are collected by credit or debit card in a separate epayment system, for which a link is provided in the form, the confirmation message and automated email.
- Participants for the in person events should complete both the registration form and the epayment. Once these are complete, registration is guaranteed.
- ANH2023 cancellation and conversion policy: Cancellation notices should be given to the ANH Academy no later than 30 May 2023. Any notice after this date will be subject to a 100% cancellation penalty and will not qualify for a refund.
Malawi-based participants
In order to maximise participation in a fair and equitable way, in person participants based in Malawi only are asked to indicate which days they would like to attend between 26-30 June. Participation in person is not required on all days and participants are encouraged to sign up for the days they can definitely attend in full. This will enable places to be allocated across the week for as many Malawi-based participants as possible. A drop-down menu will appear at the bottom of the form if you indicate that you are located in Malawi. Please use this form to select days for participation.
