Description:
The proposed side event aims to (1) introduce the Nova-UPF Screener as a new instrument to monitor and benchmark diet quality and (2) showcase the project "A validation study of a dietary assessment instrument capturing ultra-processed food consumption in multiple countries", which is being carried out in Ecuador, India and Senegal as part of the IMMANA Grant Round 3.
An initial presentation will be led by Nupens/USP to present the rationale behind the development of the Nova-UPF Screener, and give a brief overview of potential uses of this instrument based on the Brazilian experience (e.g. insertion in national health surveys).
Then, in-country partners will briefly talk about the steps undertaken and context-specific considerations that are unique to the current food environment of each country for the adaptation and validation of the Screener in Ecuador, India and Senegal.
Finally, the audience will be invited to participate in a Q&A session.
