Introducing "Foodomics and Society", a new interdisciplinary course exploring what is in our food, how we know, and ways comprehensive food composition data can be used to improve food systems, human nutrition, and the environment.
Food EDU is an open-access educational platform designed to facilitate the translation and application of cutting-edge research in food, agriculture, health, and nutrition. It aims to empower leaders across the globe to develop data-driven solutions that advance human and planetary health.
The inaugural course track for Food EDU introduces current and future scientists to concepts and guiding principles to frame the study of foodomics for human and planetary health. Modules 1-3 are available online, while the remaining modules are scheduled to be released in 2025.
Format: Each asynchronous and self-paced eLearning module takes 1 hour to complete and includes video case studies and lessons by leading experts, reflection prompts, and knowledge checks.
Audience: Graduate students, early career scientists, policy makers, nutritionists, and others who want to learn more about how food composition data can be used to improve human and planetary health.
Access: Course modules are freely available on the American Heart Association's (AHA) Professional Education Hub. View this guidance here for a step-by-step guide on how to access the courses. Select case studies and lessons are available on the Food EDU YouTube channel.
