LSHTM is seeking a Research Assistant for the Innovative Methods and Metrics for Agriculture and Nutrition Actions (IMMANA) programme. The role will support both IMMANA and the ANH Academy, by undertaking original analysis and synthesis of research in agriculture and food systems for improved nutrition. Duties include: researching issues of current or potential interest to IMMANA and the ANH Academy; producing epidemiological and statistical analyses; working on systematic reviews; and drafting research outputs. The job will require collaboration with international research partners, and being flexible to work on new developments in the field. The post will largely be supporting empirical analysis of the team, but could include work on self-directed topics of interest.
The post-holder will have a first degree in the field of Public Health Nutrition, Public Health or related field (geospatial sciences, data science, statistics). Relevant experience in conducting quantitative analysis, ideally using data from trials or using complex data from multiple sources to answer questions relevant to food systems, nutrition and health is essential. Knowledge and application of machine learning, Chat GPT or other AI software would be desirable. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0FTE and fixed-term until 31 January 2026. The post is co-funded by UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and available from 01 June 2024.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway scale, Grade 5 in the range £38,292-£43,947 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro-rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
