The impact of COVID-19 on diet quality, food security and nutrition in low and middle income countries: A systematic review of the evidence

Our recently published article reviews the evidence on the impacts of COVID-19, and measures adopted to reduce its spread, on nutritional status and food security of populations in the Global South. Although the repercussions of COVID-19 on access to healthy diets were context and time specific, studies converge to demonstrate a detrimental effect of the pandemic on diet quality and food insecurity, especially through impacts on employment, income generating activities and associated purchasing power.
