Session overview

This food safety and nutrition learning lab builds from a recently published report of food safety metrics and will introduce participants to two specific food safety measures: health risk and health burden. Through presentations and active group work, participants will understand how to obtain and interpret such measures, including the nutrition dimensions, and their implications for policy development

Learning objectives/outcomes

Learning objectives include understanding of the principles and uses of hazard and risk-based approaches to food safety, as well as how to obtain measures of health and economic burden of foodborne disease

Target audience

Researchers, practitioners and policy makers interested in food safety, in particular in low- and middle-income countries.

Format and level

Presentations, group work, discussion. Level of engagement is for entry-level participants with no previous knowledge required.
