Full Title
Open Data for Research in Agriculture and Nutrition
Session Overview
The problem of food security could be potentially reduced by the sharing of information, data, and knowledge about food, agriculture and nutrition amongst stakeholders. An astonishingly large amount of information is generated through academic research but most of this valuable information is locked away in PDFs or behind paywalls. A number of donors of agricultural research recognize that open data management plans may be essential in the future of research and may integrate clear open data principles into their funding policies. Come learn about open data management plans in agriculture and nutrition!
This session is led by the Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition (GODAN) Initiative. GODAN supports the proactive sharing of open data to make information about agriculture and nutrition available, accessible and usable to deal with the urgent challenge of ensuring world food security.
