Description
The side event focuses on the contribution of local food and food sovereignty to healthy diets and nutrition. Malawi, as a Low-Income Country, malnutrition is coupled with poor yield and production trends due to poor extension services. This side event will focus on learning from the Soil Food and Health Community (SFHC), and how they ensure sustainable production at the household level through a farmer-to-farmer approach. This session will also exhibit local foods made from local seeds that we encourage households to consume (since most foods especially in the urban setting are focused on exotic species). Participants in this session will learn about organic products and best practices, farm-led research, and interventions.
